It would be fair to say that Kyushu is really, really famous for their hot springs. In fact, the prefecture of Oita is home to the highest concentration of onsens in all of Japan, which makes me a very lucky gal. Because I LOVE onsens! And it’s not just hot baths people! There’s saunas, waterfalls, jet streams, electric currents (you can read about it here), and cold tubs (awesome after a hot sauna).
Now that I live there, I have all the pleasure to visit onsens at my leisure. This guide is a compilation of onsens I’ve visited so far in Kyushu, and hopefully provide some useful information to anyone visiting here for the first time.
