About Me

Hello, I’m Mika, a Canadian currently living in the Japanese countryside of Oita prefecture.

In 2018, I made the big move from the metropolitan city of Vancouver to the rural countryside of Japan. Fuelled by my desire to live in the country that had captured my heart so many years ago, I took my graphic design and illustration practice with me to start a new life in Japan. Since then, I’ve been learning Japanese, exploring the landscape and navigating the intricate Japanese culture (while stumbling along the way).

All pictures have been taken on a FujiFilm X-T20, and video on my iPhone 5.

A Few More Things About Me

I have 7 years of graphic and web design experience under my belt, and started a pursuit in illustration a few years ago. I’ve also written other blogs, which you can find here:

I also post regularly on my Lost in Kyushu instagram account, of daily clips of life in the countryside.
